John Dickinson

Sacramento, California

John grew up on a diversified crop and livestock farm in Central Illinois where his family’s first registered Angus cattle were purchased in 1896. He attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where he received a B.S. in Agriculture majoring in Animal Science. At Illinois, Dickinson was a member of the 1997 Livestock Judging Team and worked at the University Beef Unit. He was actively involved in the National Junior Angus Association and served as Chairman of their Board of Directors.

Upon graduation, Dickinson worked for the American Angus Association for 9 years as a Regional Manager covering the states of Arizona, California, and Nevada. He assisted the membership in marketing strategies to registered and commercial breeders alike. Additionally, he sold advertising for the Angus Productions, Inc. where his duties included items like photography, ad layout & design, and ring service at auctions.

Most recently, Dickinson is employed by Canyon Creek Angus, LLC of Cody, Wyoming, where he is the current Director of Breeding and Marketing. John is responsible for all sire selection and mating systems of this registered Angus operation. He oversees all performance data collection and submission. Furthermore, he directs their advertising campaign and is the primary marketing agent for all registered female and bull transactions.
